China is home to numerous sacred mountains of astounding natural beauty, and of deep spiritual significance.
They bear testimony to China's three religions of Daoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.
They also offer vantage points from which to view China's dramatic history.
These hallowed places range from the near-tropical island of Mount Putuo, where the gilded figure of Guanyin, 100-foot tall, appears suspended in mid-air in her stance of protection — to the jagged towering turrets of Mount Hua.
This website will share stories and appreciations of these mountains. In 2023/4 I hope to complete my tour of these sacred places, resuming after Covid interrupted this project.
The website will also introduce my forthcoming book on this tour. The book will include highlights and practical tips for interested potential visitors.
